Using the steeple and attic as a solar chimney, as well as the crawlspace and a heat recovery ventilator to pre-condition incoming air, the project has nearly eliminated all mechanical cooling systems. In addition, super-insulated walls, high-performance glazing, and the use of high-efficiency wood pellet boilers ensure that the carbon footprint of this building will be dramatically lower than that of comparable buildings
