Staples Roslindale MA

LEED-NC Gold Certification - The 19,300 square foot Staples store in Roslindale, MA, was designed to incorporate innovative green features. Furthering their long-standing commitment to sustainable business practices, Staples sought to minimize the store’s environmental impact. The store is estimated to have an annual energy cost of 35.3% and has an actual energy savings of 50%. The majority of the energy savings are the result of an efficient lighting design (1.22 W/ft²) and the use of an innovative skylight system that directs sunlight into the store using mirror and lens assemblies. Windows are tinted to eliminate excessive heat gain but to allow for maximum levels of natural daylight. This store provides customers and associates the opportunity to see sustainable building strategies firsthand. SPI served as the LEED and sustainability consultant on the project, and worked hand-in-hand with the owner on the development of this flagship property.
